Debris by Jo Anderton

Science Fiction/Fantasy

“In a far future where technology is all but indistinguishable from magic, Tanyana is one of the elite.

She can control pions, the building blocks of matter, shaping them into new forms using ritual gestures and techniques. The rewards are great, and she is one of most highly regarded people in the city. But that was before the “accident”.”

She goes from one of the most highly regarded people in the city to one of the lowest.  Jo Anderton has built an unusual world and has used the story and the characters to illustrate how the world works.  Tanyana meets and interacts with a wide cast of fascinating people who live in this world.  All combine to tell a story of trial and hope.

Debris is the first book in the Veiled World series.  I found that the conclusion left me wanting to know more.  While there was some resolution to Tanyana’s problems much was left hanging.  I will be looking for the next book to find out more about this new world.

Angry Robot published Debris by Jo Anderton in 2011.

I received an eARC of Debris from Angry Robot.  The book will be released in October of 2011.
